Mozenda offers two ways to download files and images. The best approach depends on how the website delivers the file:
- Choose Option 1 if the website provides a direct URL to the file.
- Choose Option 2 if you must click a button or link to trigger the download sequence.
Option 1: Capture the direct URL (Recommended)
If a file or image has a direct, visible URL that you can capture, this is the most efficient and reliable method. When you use this approach, make sure to change the field format to File in your Agent's field settings so Mozenda knows to download the resource rather than just saving the text URL.
For step-by-step instructions, see Capture the URL of an image or file.
Option 2: Use a Download File action
Use this method when a website doesn't give you a straightforward URL to capture. This happens when you have to click an element (like a "Download" button) that kicks off a background chain of events to start the download.
While this action can technically be used for both scenarios, we recommend avoiding it if Option 1 is available. Because Option 2 relies on browser interaction and page timing, it is more complex and has a higher chance of running into errors.
