# Collection.UpdateField

### Description

Modifies an existing **field** in a **collection**.

### URL parameters

          URL parameter ordering

          

The **URL parameters** below are listed in the order they should be entered in the API **URL**.

| Name | Required | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `CollectionID` | True | numeric | Unique identifier of the **collection**. |
| `FieldID` | True | numeric | Unique identifier of the **field**. |
| `Description` | False | string | Description of the **field**. |
| `Format` | False | string | Currently supported options are `Text`, `File`, and `DateTime`. |
| `Name` | False | string | Name for the **field**. |

### Responses

| `Result` | string | `Success` if the operation was successful. |
